Testimonials

Steve,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Peirce Extended Day Program I wanted to congratulate you on your ten year anniversary of Giroux Brothers Martial Arts.  It is a testament to you as a teacher and your relationship with our children to have been able to make this business successful.   Almost everyone who serves on the Board of EDP has had children take martial arts classes offered by you at EDP and we all speak so highly of the program.  We are thrilled to have your classes as part of our program’s offerings.

Again, congratulations.

Lisa Gordon
President, PEDP Board of Directors

I had an almost weepy moment while watching the belt testing today, realizing the magic you make in that studio!  As a watcher of human behavior, I find it amazing the range that you have in that group.  From the intensely gifted students who are clearly flying through the ranks, to those who are making slower progress, to the ones who still goof off too much.  However, you have done a truly incredible job of bringing out the best in so many young people.  Not only is it inspiring to watch the most gifted of your students, it is equally inspiring to see the nurturing and patience you have shown to many of the others, and to see how far they have come.

I said to another mom that I wish I did as well at home as you do in the studio in determining when to ignore little infractions and when to firmly, but quietly, get the kids in line.  As parents, we would also be lucky to be able to be able to learn how to motivate our kids as effectively as you do.

You really have a gift with your students and I am thrilled that our family has gotten to be a part of that.

"My 6-yr old daughter, Morgan, asked me if she could take karate lessons.  I chose Giroux Bros mostly because it was close to my house, but also because Mr. Giroux was so pleasant to my daughter and me when I first called.  I have been very pleased with Giroux Bros Martial Arts.  Morgan’s lessons go beyond karate to whole life values like self confidence, diligence and respect.

Now my other daughter, Devon, studies at Giroux Bros too.  They like all of their teachers, the classes are fun, and extra programs are offered which nicely round out their experience.  I like that the staff is friendly and approachable.  They have always responded promptly when I had a question or suggestion.

Devon and Morgan are just completing the Dragons program and will soon be advancing to Eagles.  They are both excited and I am very proud.  I am also happy that they have learned a lesson that I think is so important: That with dedication and perseverance they can reach their goals!

If you are considering karate for yourself or your children, visit Giroux Bros – you’ll like what you see!"

I am very pleased overall with the program.  I love the nurturing atmosphere and the fairness in which the classes are run.  I feel that each child has an opportunity to shine and feel special."

“I like the mix of karate and good behavior emphasis.  Nick always pays attention to the physical instruction, but equally concentrates on Steve's stories and instruction about respect, responsibility, and a positive attitude.  This has been a great, consistent presence in Nick's life--something we all look forward to."

I really enjoyed how Mr. Giroux emphasizes not just the physical fitness, but also the life skills and attitude skills.  He also creates a very non-competitive environment where kids enjoy the best.  It is a great way that Mr. Giroux always emphasizes on higher belts being role models for low belts."

“Attitude of the teachers is great--and the combination of karate with fun is just the right mix.  The kids know what is expected of them when participating in class and the staff is consistent and fair in their handling of the kids."

“What I like most about this school is the way karate is taught.  Mr. Giroux, as well as the other teachers, makes the experience of learning karate rewarding and fun.  My son, Alan, 10, is benefiting a lot from the karate classes.  Since he began he has not only gained discipline but also he is able to focus more on tasks at school and home.  He enjoys all the classes and looks forward to obtain new belts.  Thank you very much!!"

“Since my son Mark has been taking classes with Steve, I have noticed he matured a bit.  He now thinks before he acts, which is a big step for him.

Mark is a 6 year old boy who is filled with a lot of worry since my husband who is a US Marine has been deployed to Iraq.  He had this constant fear that something bad may happen to his Dad and there are a lot of different thoughts running through his little head.  I feel with the Karate classes he has been taking they have made him grow a lot more confident and in return that has given him more confidence in his father knowing he is a very strong and smart man, which has eased his worries.

I also have seen Mark set goals which he has never done, if you ask him what he loves to do he will tell you go to karate and someday be a black belt like Mr. Steve!"

“My son Josh first met Steve Giroux when he attended a weekly Karate class by his after-school program. Josh was a shy 5 year old and was anxious about participating in group activities. Karate class, however, helped him develop self-confidence as he learned to perform the routines. Steve makes the classes fun and also provides individual attention which helped Josh develop his skills. Josh is now in his third year of Karate at Giroux Bros. Studio and is still loving it as he progresses through the belt system. As a parent, I have come to realize the many positive benefits of karate. It is a well-rounded discipline that promotes physical fitness, mental focus, self-discipline, responsibility and goal setting all in the midst of a lot of fun.”

“I just really love how disciplined it makes me feel!  I thought that working out at a gym and eating well was enough, but karate/martial arts has made me feel as though I am in the best shape I’ve been in—both physically as well as emotionally.  It’s a wonderful confidence booster”.

“I was unsure at first what my thoughts/reactions would be for class when I first signed up. I knew by my 3rd week that I wanted to continue, as I feel I am learning a great deal, and enjoying practicing as I learn more and more.”

“My almost-seven year old, Josh, enrolled in Steve Giroux's karate class several months ago and twice a week, even after a full day of school or camp, he enthusiastically participates in his karate class. Steve's friendly, attentive style is effectively instructing Josh in the art and skills of physical and mental discipline. Josh is enormously proud of his accomplishments thus far and is looking forward to someday achieving his Black Belt, “just like Mr. Giroux.”

“When my 7-year old son asked to learn karate, we were willing to let him try, but we were not convinced he would last with it. He had already started and stopped a few activities. We soon discovered that Steve Giroux and his assistants have an excellent way with the children. Our son loves coming. He is learning a lot of karate and making new friends. Giroux Bros. Martial Arts has a Student Creed that revolves around positive behavior and respect. We have encouraged our son to follow through with this behavior at home. Our son is turning 9. He feels very accomplished with the karate he continues to learn. Thank you to Giroux Bros. Martial Arts.”

“Giroux Bros. Martial Arts Children's Karate Program has benefited my child by building focus, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Zoe used to say she was not good at things math, sports, reading, whatever. She also had a tendency to be impatient with herself. Karate has helped her learn that if she sets a goal and works diligently, she can get there. Now Zoe talks about practicing and working to get better ‚not just at karate, but also at school or anything else she cares about. Now she knows she is capable, knows she will get there if she works at it and stays with it. We couldn't be more pleased with what Giroux Bros. Martial Arts has done for Zoe.”

“Giroux Bros. Martial Arts Children's Karate Program has benefited my child, in so many "forms". She is more focused which integrates into her school performance. Maria is more confident and we are happy the Giroux Bros. Martial Arts helps her diabetes management. She has also learned to truly better herself and compare & "compete" with other peers. I would recommend Giroux Bros. Martial Arts to any friend or school parent to help their child's development physically, mentally and to have the opportunity to learn good sportsmanship in life.”

“Giroux Bros. Martial Arts has been a wonderful place for our sons to learn karate. The teachers keep the kids interested and enthusiastic in the development of skills and disciplines associated with the sport. Giroux Bros. is the second karate program we have sent our boys to and it far and away outshined the other. We have been very impressed with the level of professionalism Steve brings to the program and the way he makes learning fun.”
